At The OsteoHub we treat people of all ages from babies to the most mature adults. We are trained to treat a wide variety of conditions including back and neck pain, joint and muscle problems and minor injuries to name a few.
We are best known for our treatment and relief of neck and back pain and there is much evidence which supports Osteopathic treatment for these areas.
Our approach is to treat each patient as an individual. We look at the problem they are presenting with alongside their lifestyle choices, work and family commitments and external stressors. By considering these other factors, we can approach each person with a specific treatment plan and working together we aim to resolve the original problem if possible and improve general health and wellbeing. Regular treatments are sometimes suggested as certain conditions, for example Osteoarthritis, are not going to go away, but osteopathic treatment can ease some of the daily discomfort, encourage flexibility and help a person maintain the range of movements possible.
Back Pain
Back pain is a common condition with more than 2.5 million people suffering with back pain every day of the year! You are not alone!
Back pain varies from aching and stiffness to high levels of pain which may also involve pain into the arms or legs, depending on which part of the spine is affected. Generally back pain is self limiting and will get better on its own. This may take a few days but can take weeks and in some cases, months. If back pain is affecting your everyday life then osteopathy may help.
How can an Osteopath help?
We take a case history, make an assessment, run through orthopaedic tests and then we can determine which structures we think may be the cause of the problem. Being reassured of what may be causing the pain can sometimes help you to manage better.
We can offer you treatment which will help to reduce muscle spasms (often associated with back pain), encourage joint movement, and tailor advice and exercises to help you on the road to recovery. A course of treatment may help you to recover more quickly and all of this will be discussed at your appointment.
Neck Pain
Neck pain is another very common condition. It ranges from feelings of a dull ache and stiffness to quite high levels of pain, sometimes restricting how you can move your neck and may involve pain into your shoulder, arm or hands. It can also be the cause of headaches. This is usually a self limiting condition – it should get better on its own. This may take a few days but can take weeks and in some cases, months.
If neck pain is affecting your everyday life and your ability to move freely, then osteopathy may help.

Sciatica
Sciatica is a common term used to describe pain going down either leg which follows the line of the sciatic nerve. It is often accompanied with low back pain (but not always). It is caused by pinching of the sciatic nerve.
Sciatica can resolve on its own and takes between 6 weeks and 3 months. However, nerve pain is often described as unbearable and you may wish to seek help to encourage this to resolve more quickly and if possible, prevent it happening again. If sciatica is affecting your everyday life then osteopathy may help.

Sports Injuries
A wide variety of sports injuries can be treated with osteopathy. Any kinds of joint or muscle pain may benefit from osteopathic treatment and advice. The sorts of problems we regularly see are tennis or golfers elbow, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, ankle sprains or muscle strains. If a condition is not getting better on its own then osteopathic treatment may help.

Knee Pain
Have you had a fall? Was it a sporting injury? Or has the pain come on over a period of time? Knee pain can be caused by problems within the knee itself or sometimes, by an issue further up or down the body.
How can an Osteopath help?
We take a case history, make an assessment, run through orthopaedic tests and then we can determine which structures we think may be the cause of the problem. This may be a diagnosis of the structures of the knee. Sometimes it turns out to be a back, hip or a foot problem. Being reassured of what may be causing the pain can sometimes help you to manage better. A course of treatment may help you to recover more quickly and all of this will be discussed at your appointment.
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder is another condition that can just get better by itself. It generally has a pattern of 6 months being painful, 6 months just not being able to move it and 6 months to start to regain range of motion. Frozen shoulder can last between 18 months and 3 years.
Treating a frozen shoulder can help reduce the length of time you have it and maintain some of the range of motion. Having a frozen shoulder can also impact how you are using other parts of your body and this may in turn cause pain or discomfort elsewhere.
If you have been diagnosed with, or suspect that you have, a frozen shoulder then make an appointment for an assessment.
Post Surgery Rehabilitation and ScarWork Treatment
Specific treatment is offered which works directly onto scars. We also incorporate cranial osteopathy and soft tissue manipulation and articulation into your appointment with the aim of improving areas of discomfort and restriction and support overall recovery and health. ScarWork treatment is used to specifically improve the health and feel of scars from surgery (such as post breast surgery, cesarean, hip or knee replacements) or accidents.
Scar massage, which could be considered similar to ScarWork has had some very positive research and many surgeons recommend self-massage for patients as beneficial for the recovery of the scar tissue. This type of treatment can help loosen and release tight scar tissue to reduce discomfort. By reducing tightness and encouraging mobility between the layers of skin, fascia and muscle, the range of movement can often improve. Trapped nerves and irritated scar tissue can be a factor for prolonged discomfort. Therapeutic touch may reduce pain and help to normalise sensitivity. Scar massage is often recommended by surgeons as a way to promote optimum scar healing after surgery and may minimise longer term complications.
Treatment can be beneficial on both new and old scar tissue.
